Academic Lab Specialist
Bluefield State College invites applications for the position of Academic Lab Specialist on the Bluefield campus (to also assist other sites). This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a science field with a minimum of eight semester hours in chemistry, biology, and physics. Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety regulations is required, in addition to one year of relevant experience. This position is responsible for setting-up and maintaining all laboratory equipment, including chemical reagents and solutions prepared to proper concentrations for lab courses and student research projects. Orders, receives, stores and maintains equipment and supplies. Maintains inventories, audits, and records. Establishes procedures and training for laboratory safety and for disposal of hazardous materials. Works cooperatively with the science faculty; reports to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. This is a classified position, PG 17, entry salary of $30,767.
