PRINCETON — Two people will be facing charges of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a local woman who was found this morning at an apartment building in the Lilly Grove area of Princeton, according to Mercer County Sheriff Don Meadows.

The shooting occurred approximately 5:20 a.m. on Thornton Avenue near Princeton, Meadows said. One woman was killed and a male person at the building was taken to a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the face. He was later treated and released. One person, an adult male, was taken into custody this morning.

The second suspect, an adult female, was arrested approximately 5:30 p.m. after her father brought her to the sheriff’s department, Meadows said.

“We have two in custody at this time. They both will be facing charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, malicious wounding, and a count each of conspiracy,” Meadows said.

Both the suspects will remain in custody pending their arraignment, Meadows said. They will have to go before a circuit court judge for a bond hearing.

Robbery was the motive behind the shootings, and both the victims and the suspects knew each other, Meadows said.
