Three injured in collision between vehicle and pedestrian

BRUSHFORK — Deputies are investigating what caused a vehicle on Route 123 near Brushfork to strike a pedestrian.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Route 123 near Coppolo’s Mobile Home Park. An Oldsmobile Alero driven by Denise Rochester, no age available, of Flat Top, was traveling toward Brushfork when the vehicle hit a guardrail, spun out of control and struck Justin Belcher, 29, according to Lt. J.E. “Joe” Parks of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. Parks stated that Belcher was a local resident.

Belcher, Rochester, and a male passenger riding with Rochester were transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

The Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department and the Bluefield Rescue Squad were also dispatched to the scene.
