A fatal shooting in McDowell County is being investigated as a homicide, police said this morning.
According to Sheriff Martin B. West, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Mohawk section of the county at 9:45 p.m. Thursday night. Martin said deputies began their investigation upon arrival, and located Harry Arnold Edwards, 63, of Mohawk, who was deceased at the residence.
West said Edwards died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head.
West said the investigation is ongoing and the incident is being considered a homicide.
No arrests or suspects were immediately reported Friday.
The deputies were assisted at the scene of the shooting by troopers with the West Virginia State Police Welch Detachment.
