Jim Ferguson resigned as city manager of Bluefield this afternoon at the conclusion of a closed-door executive session meeting of the Bluefield City board meeting.
Ferguson’s resignation was accepted on a 5 to 0 vote. Bluefield Police Chief Dennis Dillow will serve as the interim city manager.
Ferguson said he was resigning for "personal reasons." He said he didn't want to elaborate. Ferguson said he didn't have immediate future plans other than going to the beach with his family.
Ferguson said he enjoyed his time of service with the city.
Mayor Tom Cole said an immediate search would begin for a new city manager.
