Police locate suspect in armed robbery of Bluefield bank

BLUEFIELD — A suspect in the robbery of a local bank’s drive-through is currently being held on drug charges.

An investigation began June 23 after an unidentified male on a bicycle robbed the drive-through teller at the First Community Bank in downtown Bluefield. The suspect held a note up to the window demanding money and displayed a firearm.

“We have a possible suspect in jail on unrelated charges,” Detective K.L. Adams of the Bluefield Police Department said Monday.

The suspect was being held on drug charges, Adams said.

The adult male suspect, whose name Adams declined to release immediately, was arrested Saturday at the Joy Mart on Bluefield Avenue when officers answered a call about a fight, Adams said.
