Husband and wife arrested on sexual abuse charges involving a juvenile

WELCH — A husband and wife facing multiple charges of sexual abuse and other offenses were arrested Friday in McDowell County.

Frankie Ward, 45, of Yukon, was arrested on charges including seven counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian; 180 counts of delivery of a controlled substance to a minor; and 187 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a statement issued today by the West Virginia State Police Detachment in Welch.

Molly Ward, no age available, of Yukon, was arrested and charged with six counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian; and 180 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The victim of the alleged acts, which happened between April 1, 2013 and April 7 this year, was a female juvenile under the age of 16 that was in the suspects’ care, according to investigators.

Both Frankie and Molly Ward were awaiting arraignment. The investigation is being conducted by Senior Trooper J.K. Weiss. The suspects were arrested today by Cpl. B.J. Garretson and Trooper J.C. Mann.

The investigation is continuing.
