Deaths
• Rickie Davis Akers, 64, of Cary, N.C., a former resident of Oakvale, died Monday night, April 14, 2008 in a Cary, N.C. hospital following a short illness. Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale was in charge of arrangements.
• Bonnie Sue Blevins, 63, of Princeton, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at her home. Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
• Ennis Lorraine Boyd, 73, of Princeton Towers, Princeton, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, was in charge of arrangements.
• Billy Joe Bromfield, 75, of 100 Hillview St., Princeton, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Princeton Community Hospital. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
• Maxine Conner, 76, of 237 Clines Country Road, Lashmeet, died Friday, April 18, 2008 at her home. Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton, was in charge of arrangements.
• Lizzie Cole Ellison, 97, of Princeton Health Care Center, formerly of Lee's Mobile Home Park, Princeton, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her residence. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
• Wayne A. Keillor, 70, of Oakland Drive, Princeton, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton, was in charge of arrangements.
• Judith Elaine “Judy” Rudy, 60, of 314 Kirby Addition in Princeton died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton
• Thelma Joleane Vanover, 70, of 191 Java Lane Princeton, W.Va., formerly of Premier, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluewell, was in charge of arrangements.
Obituary
JOHN FREDERICK HETZEL
BLUEFIELD — John Frederick Hetzel, 77, of Bluefield, W.Va., passed away Tuesday April 22, 2008 in a Princeton hospital.
Born June 23, 1930 in Bluefield, W.Va., he was a son of the late John Joshua Hetzel and Blanche Shipe Hetzel. He was a member of First Christian Church and Bland Street United Methodist Church, both of Bluefield. Mr. Hetzel was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean conflict. After his service in the military, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and later received a Master's degree from Radford University. Mr. Hetzel taught at James Wood High School in Winchester, Va. and later became a guidance counselor at Rocky Gap High School and Athens High School. He also taught U.S. History at Bluefield High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Molly Whitmore Hetzel; his second wife, Dorothy Ayers Hetzel; and one brother, Jay Mars Hetzel.
Survivors include one son, Adrian Hetzel and his wife Rhonda of Clarkston, Mich.; one daughter, Dr. Amanda Starnes and her husband Larry of Atlanta, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Kristen, and Kaitlin Hetzel.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery with Dr. Allen Hammond officiating. Those wishing to attend the services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday evening, April 25th, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, Ohio River Valley Chapter, 7124 Miami Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45243.
